CNN, Facebook and Obama Team Up Again 23 February 2009

CNN.com and Facebook on Feb. 24 will attempt to replicate their wildly successful live streaming/commenting collaboration as seen during President Barack Obama’s inauguration, as the site ramps up coverage of the new president’s much-anticipated State of the Union Address.

As with the inauguration on Jan. 20, which yielded record-smashing traffic numbers ( see this earlier report), CNN.com visitors will be able to stream live coverage of the address, while concurrently commenting on the address via their Facebook status-updating tool -- all on a single Web page. And just like last time, viewer’ friends will be notified about the CNN.com Live coverage via their Facebook News Feeds.

Facebook Backs Down On Terms Of Service Change 18 February 2009

Facebook has backed down on changing its terms of use. That's after tens of thousands of its users pressured the company. The social networking site had changed its policy to say that it could keep copies of the content you post, even if you close your account. After the uproar, officials say they can not claim rights to your material.

Facebook Privacy Officer Chris Kelly says, "We wanted to be very, very clear with users about how important their trust is to us and roll back to the old version of the terms of service. which we did last night."

Officials say they will rewrite their terms of service to make it easier to understand. They also warn customers that even though the company can't keep copies of your content, the same doesn't hold true for the friends you share your information with online.

Facebook Connect lets users put their profile information on various Web sites across the Internet, register and sign in to the third-party sites using their Facebook login, access their friend lists, and share their current browsing activities on the connected sites with chosen friends.
